Race Recap - Victoria's Voice Foundation 200

Qualification Stats:

Time & Conditions: 4:05 PM PST | 66 °F | Sunny | 42MPH Winds

Choosing handling over speed, pit crew chief, Mike Shiplett, helped the team adjust this week's truck to take full advantage of the track's momentum & downforce; This decision would prove beneficial later in the race. Bret hit his marks and qualified P20 with a time of 30.974 seconds. 


Race Stats:

Time & Conditions: 8:00 PM PST | 63 °F | Clear | 28MPH Winds

Starting Position & Results: P20 | P25 | P23 | P12

 

Stage 1

  • Bret managed to narrowly avoid damage early on when Niece Motorsport's Bayley Currey, driver of the No. 41 truck, spun on the backstretch.

  • Looking to maintain a consistent pace, Bret stayed between P17 and P25 throughout the entire first stage. 


Stage 2

  • With cautions only at the stage breaks, the entire field saw relatively no movement across the pack.

  •  The team's pit stops were effective and efficient, ensuring Bret would maintain his pace whenever having to make a stop.

  • At the stage 2 conclusion, there were only (2) lead changes within the stage, and Bret climbed (2) positions into P23.


Final Stage

  • At the beginning of the final stage, TRICON Garage's driver, Dean Thompson, was too loose going into turn four and hit the wall hard to bring out the caution flag for the fourth and final time of the race.

  • During the last stretch of green flag laps, pit strategy once again paid off. Bret handled the Precision Garage Door Service No. 32 truck through traffic, using momentum to propel him forward.

  • Bret crossed the finish line in P12, just one spot shy of tying his best finish (P11) at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

  • Bret Holmes now sits in 8th place with 89 points,  -44 points behind leader Tyler Ankrum. Full standings can be located here.
