Race Recap - Heart of America 200

Bret Holmes drives the Best Value Carriers No.32 at Kansas Speedway.

Qualification Stats:

Time & Conditions: 11:35 PM CT | 57 °F | Cloudy | 10MPH Winds

Understanding that the track would change throughout the day from the cold temperatures, the team used qualifying to assess the truck's setup. Crew Chief Mike Shiplett was happy with the truck's handling and knew they'd see success on the long runs as the track warmed up. Sacrificing short-run speed, Holmes qualified with a time of 31.337 seconds.

Stage 1

The first stage saw the only caution of the day when Ty Majeski, driver of the 98 truck, had a mechanical failure coming around Turn 1. After the caution laps, Holmes would finish the stage where he started, and the team made adjustments to the truck for the second stage.

Stage 2

Finding a lot of speed in the second stage, Holmes drove through traffic, advancing right outside of the top 10. As the field began to spread, Holmes settled back into P18 to close out the second stage.

Final Stage

At the start of the final stage, the team knew they had a truck that could handle the long runs. After the final pit stop, Bret found himself fighting in the top 15 for the remainder of the race. The Best Value Carriers No.32 would finish in P14, plus ten spots from the starting position
